Love was well and truly in the air at Larks Leas Rest Home, elderly care home in Blandford, this month as the residents celebrated the most romantic day of the year. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, heading out to enjoy a hot date at a fancy restaurant wasn’t on the cards this year! However that didn’t have to mean missing out on some Valentine’s Day related fun.
With the home decked out in banners, balloons and a whole host of cute handmade Valentine’s decorations it was enough to stir at least a little joy and romance in even the coldest of hearts! Amongst the decorations was a Valentine’s tree on which residents and staff could hang any special messages they wished to share, written on delightful handmade love hearts.
It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without something sweet, so to ensure everybody had a treat or two to enjoy the residents got to work baking cupcakes. They were decorated so beautifully that it almost felt like eating them should be a crime – however be assured that they were so delicious not even a crumb was left afterwards!
