The celebrations begun with entertainment from Andy Hague and his accordion, and Gordon enjoyed a delicious plate of his favourite meal, fish and chips. The REME members brought gifts including a cap as well as a regimental tie and pin, and he took pleasure in browsing through old photographs. He was also visited by the Mayor of Blandford, Councillor Nocturin Lacey-Clarke, who gifted him with a card and a stunning bouquet.
Arriving with cards and gifts, Gordon’s family presented him with a newly framed 100th birthday card he had been sent from the Queen in 2020. He was also given a road atlas to help him remember places he had been on his travels throughout the years.
It was a wonderful day that was thoroughly enjoyed by all at our rest home in Blandford. Gordon was delighted with his cards and presents, and his visit from members of the REME brought back memories of his time in Egypt. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the celebrations and happy birthday Gordon!
