Last week saw plenty of excitement for the residents here at Larks Leas Rest Home in Blandford courtesy of Tina, our fantastic new Activities Coordinator. She wasted no time in arranging some fun, hands-on activities that everybody could take part in.
The residents had the chance to show off their culinary flair by making some “pitza” - pizza using pita bread as a base. With a wide array of toppings available, including the very controversial pineapple which is a debate we’ll save for another day, everybody was able to adapt their pitzas to their own flavour preferences. There were some truly delicious creations on show - alongside one or two questionable taste combinations, however each to their own we say!
With the savoury treats taken care of it was good news for those with a sweet tooth as the residents also got to embrace their inner Mary Berry with some baking. Fortunately there were no time limits or intimidating judges peering over shoulders to put the pressure on and the result was a lovely selection of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Topped with frosting and a range of edible decorations they looked incredibly tasty - the fact they didn’t last very long proving that to be accurate!
As well as displaying their cooking skills the residents also got the chance to embrace their artistic side and allow their creativity to flow. Painting and tissue paper art was on the agenda resulting in some real masterpieces. Among them were some very colourful flowers and butterflies, making it feel as if springtime had come early to Larks Leas Rest Home.
Ensuring that the residents of Lark Leas Rest Home, our elderly care home in Blandford, have activities to enjoy on a regular basis is important to the entire Royal Bay Care Homes family and is a priority in each of our care homes in Dorset. We’re thrilled to welcome Tina to the team and look forward to all of the wonderful activities she has planned for the future.
